The forging experience was a wonderful opportunity to explore the skills needed to forge a blade. So often the skill of a craftsman is invisible - the difficulty is not obvious. I learned a lot during the experience and I’m grateful for the opportunity. One of the things I like about Japan is the high regard given to skilled crafts-people and the willingness to pay for the beautiful objects they create.
